Affidavit: Man arrested, accused of possessing thousands of child sexual abuse material
Investigators say cyber tips and a phone search linked Jared Austin Hegwer to more than 2,300 images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
- On Tuesday, San Antonio police detectives arrested Jared Austin Hegwer at a home in the 200 block of Gayle Avenue after investigators linked multiple online accounts to him through CyberTipline reports.
- Homeland Security Investigations launched the inquiry after reports indicated an online service provider had detected files containing child sexual abuse material, tracing the activity to Hegwer's residence.
- According to the arrest report, investigators seized a cellphone containing more than 2,300 images and videos of child sexual abuse material; digital evidence from Hegwer's Kik account further identified him.
- Following arrest, records indicate Hegwer was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, where he remains held on a $100,000 bond.
- The investigation involved federal and local authorities using multiple search warrants and subpoenas to trace accounts, which contained photos Hegwer had taken of himself, to his residence.
