Aer Lingus to cancel all Manchester-US flights from next month
- On January 28, Aer Lingus announced it will fully cease Manchester transatlantic operations by March 31, 2026, with Manchester–New York flights ending February 23, 2026.
- Aer Lingus chief executive Lynne Embleton recently said the Manchester base was under-performing, with its long-haul operating margin lagging Irish long-haul operating margins.
- Affected customers are being informed directly and offered reaccommodation and refund options for cancelled Manchester transatlantic flights, while Aer Lingus plans a Dublin–Barbados temporary service to assist.
- Around 200 staff , mostly cabin crew, will be affected, and the Irish Air Line Pilots' Association , representing 42 pilots, contests automatic redeployment rights to Dublin.
- Tens of thousands of Manchester passengers face disrupted travel plans after the base closure was confirmed, but short‑haul Manchester–Ireland services will continue and other carriers already serve US routes.
