The team spent 70 hours in the air and flew at an average altitude of 14,000 feet, officials said.
- On Sunday, British adventurer Alicia Hempleman-Adams, alongside teammates Bert Padelt and Peter Cuneo, landed their hydrogen balloon, the Atlantic Explorer, in Bastendorf, Luxembourg, completing a historic trans-Atlantic crossing.
- The trio launched from Presque Isle, Maine, on Thursday morning, aiming to complete the first successful manned transoceanic flight powered solely by hydrogen gas.
- Flying at an average altitude of 14,000 feet with speeds up to 62mph, the team endured freezing conditions in an open basket during the 2,853-mile journey across the North Atlantic Ocean.
- Hempleman-Adams became the first British woman to cross the Atlantic by gas balloon, joining her father, Sir David Hempleman-Adams, as the only father-daughter team to complete the crossing.
- Success followed a failed attempt last year due to poor conditions, and publicist Kim Vesely said the pilots are now looking forward to "getting some sleep in a real bed.
