The MCD has demolished 24 properties and sealed seven illegal structures after the Satya Niketan collapse. The drive has widened scrutiny of unsafe PG hubs and unauthorised construction across Delhi.
Following the Satya Niketan building collapse in Delhi, the MCD has intensified safety inspections of PGs in the capital. In the initial survey, 1,118 PGs were inspected, and none were found to be in the dangerous category.
Delhi MCD's action after the Satya Niketan tragedy: The Delhi MCD has taken swift action following the Satya Niketan building collapse. In two days, 24 illegal buildings have been demolished, seven have been sealed, and 35 show-cause notices have been issued. 1,100 PGs and hostels have been inspected, and 959 properties have been demolished within three months, tightening the noose on illegal construction in the capital.
