- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Birla on Saturday to review ongoing investments, as Hindalco Industries Limited develops the project initially envisioned with 1 million MTPA capacity and an Rs 8,000 crore investment.
- Majhi assured continued State Government support, stating, "We intend not only to lead the country in alumina and aluminium production." The project aims to generate substantial direct employment and downstream opportunities.
- Recent state government moves to develop an integrated greenfield aluminium project with Adani Enterprises Ltd and Abu Dhabi-based International Resources Holding, estimated at USD 11.5 billion, reinforce Odisha's status as a leading metals hub.
- Discussions also explored potential future investments in copper refining, technical textiles, and advanced aluminium products, as the Group remains focused on expanding its presence in sectors where it currently lacks significant operations.
