AMARAVATI, ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA, JUL 13 – BITS Pilani's Rs 2,200 crore investment includes a 7,000-student AI+ Campus in Amaravati to advance AI, robotics, and data science education over five years.
- During BITS Pilani's 2025 convocation, Kumar Mangalam Birla revealed a Rs 2,200 crore plan aimed at enhancing infrastructure and establishing a specialized AI-focused campus in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.
- The investment funds three major initiatives: Project Vistaar to enhance the existing campuses, the establishment of a new AI+ Campus, and the rollout of a digital education platform—all intended to support India’s ambition to become a leading global economic and intellectual powerhouse.
- The AI+ Campus, covering 35 acres and constructed in two stages, is designed to serve over 7,000 students and will emphasize fields such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, robotics, integrated cyber-physical technologies, and language computing, while providing global engagement opportunities and practical industry experience.
- Birla said, "There will be no campus like this in the country," and Rs 1,219 crore will enhance Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses under Project Vistaar, including Rs 60 crore to modernize undergraduate labs.
- These initiatives are designed to foster an environment that encourages learning, drives innovation, and supports inclusive development, demonstrating the group’s dedication to revolutionizing education and equipping India to thrive in a digitally connected and globally integrated future as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.
