Adani Ports to launch dedicated Empty Container Yard operations at Mundra
The facility will handle storage, maintenance and inspection for empty units and aims to cut container movements and logistics costs, APSEZ said.
- On Friday, APSEZ launched a dedicated Empty Container Yard at Mundra Port, offering end-to-end services including storage, maintenance, inspection, and transfer to exporters and Container Freight Stations.
- Mundra Port handles 1.6 million TEUs of empty containers annually, accounting for nearly 35 per cent of India's total container trade, making the facility strategically necessary.
- As of FY26, APSEZ holds a 45.5 per cent share of the domestic container market. Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer, said the facility enhances efficiency by enabling faster turnaround times and reducing unnecessary container movements.
- By integrating the yard within the Mundra Port Special Economic Zone, the facility enables closer coordination among Customs authorities, shipping lines, and transporters, Gupta added.
- Under its Ambition 2031 roadmap, APSEZ intends to add more than 6 million TEUs of container handling capacity across its network over the next five years, positioning Mundra at the center of expansion.
