Actor Chuck Norris Dies at 86
Chuck Norris was a six-time undefeated world karate champion who founded Chun Kuk Do and earned a 10th degree black belt, according to Black Belt magazine.
- Chuck Norris, the martial arts grandmaster and action star, died Thursday at 86, his family said in a statement posted to social media describing a "sudden passing."
- Born Carlos Ray Norris on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, he moved to Torrance, California at age 12 and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958, training in martial arts during a Korea deployment.
- A six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate champion, Norris founded Chun Kuk Do and the United Fighting Arts Federation, which awarded more than 3,300 Chuck Norris System black belts worldwide.
- He is survived by five children: stunt performers Mike and Eric with his late ex-wife Dianne Holechek, twins Dakota and Danilee with his wife Gena Norris, and daughter Dina.
- On screen, Norris starred nine seasons on "Walker, Texas Ranger" and appeared in more than 20 films; his tough-guy image spawned the viral "Chuck Norris Facts" meme and inspired "The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book.
