Person Found Fatally Shot in Santa Clara Neighborhood; House Burns Near Shooting Scene

Police found a man shot dead and a nearby home burning as investigators searched for a suspect and a possible link between the two scenes.

  • On Friday, Santa Clara Police Department Lt. Eric Lagergren reported a fatal shooting in the 600 block of Enright Avenue. Shortly after, officers discovered a nearby house fire, prompting an investigation into a possible connection.
  • Tactical units and SWAT vehicles swarmed the neighborhood following the shooting. Firefighters used ladder trucks to spray water on the burning single-family home from several houses away due to the ongoing suspect search.
  • Neighbor Terry Coe, who lived in the area for more than three decades, noted frequent activity at the residence. Another neighbor, Farid Davanloo, described the victim's family as "quiet and friendly" but expressed concern about guns in the neighborhood.
  • By just before 4 p.m., Lagergren confirmed the fire was under control, though the house was completely destroyed. As of Friday night, no suspects were in custody, and the investigation remained active.
  • The Santa Clara Police Department continues processing evidence from the scene, located east of the San Tomas Expressway. The burned structure was listed as a short-term rental, and investigators are working to determine whether the fire was connected to the shooting.
