ALS Network Celebrates Final Congressional Passage of ACT for ALS Reauthorization Act
The bipartisan measure would extend key ALS programs through 2031 and preserve expanded access to investigational therapies, advocates said.
- On Tuesday, the Senate approved the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies for ALS Reauthorization Act, sending the legislation to the President for signature following earlier House passage.
- Lawmakers advanced the bipartisan bill just before the current authorization expires on Sept 30, 2026, preventing disruption to programs supporting expanded access, biomarker research, and community coordination.
- ALS Network President and CEO Sheri Strahl credited sustained advocacy for the win, thanking Representatives Mike Quigley and Representatives Calvert alongside Senators Lisa Murkowski and Chris Coons for their bipartisan leadership.
- Once signed into law, the reauthorization will extend key ACT for ALS programs through 2031, sustaining progress in shared research infrastructure and expanded access to investigational therapies for trial-ineligible patients.
