New Details Revealed in Barrie Encampment Homicide Investigation
A 52-year-old man faces 33 charges including two murders linked to a homeless encampment; police say the killings were targeted and the investigation is among the largest in Barrie history.

- During executed search warrants, investigators found suspected human remains at the Victoria Street encampment and a Huntsville property, police say two men were murdered and dismembered in targeted killings.
- He was denied bail at a hearing on Aug. 15, and the City of Barrie reclaimed and fenced the encampment on Aug. 8, hiring a contractor for a multimillion-dollar cleanup while County of Simcoe aided displaced people.
- Police say parts of the investigation have concluded, there are no further suspects or victims, and the accused was already known to Barrie Police with a violent past.
