Just before Christmas, Hungary informed the Council of the European Union that it had granted asylum to two Polish citizens. According to Polish press reports, former Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro and his wife may be the latest asylum seekers in Budapest.
"It is regrettable that Hungary has again granted asylum to two Polish citizens."
The Polish Foreign Ministry has summoned the Hungarian ambassador after Budapest granted asylum to two, as yet unidentified, Polish citizens, further exacerbating tensions between the two countries, Reuters reported.
Just before Christmas, the Hungarian mission to the EU sent a letter to the missions of all member states informing them that Hungary had granted asylum to two Polish citizens, the investigative portal VSquare reported, without disclosing the names of the people.
