What German Minister of Interior Says About the Possibility of Banning the Extreme Party AfD

The AfD is "secured to the right extreme". But there are decisive differences in legal situation and political practice between Austria and Germany

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobindt stated that a recent decision of the Internal Information Service to classify the Alternative Party for Germany (AfD) for an extremist right organisation confirmed is not sufficient to justify the ban on the party, reported by Agerpres.

The AfD Brandenburg sues the classification as "extremely right" by the domestic secret service. Federal Minister of the Interior Dobrindt criticizes demands for a party ban.

The new Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt, expressed doubts about a possible AfD banning procedure, because the expert opinion prepared by the constitutional protection did not contain two important elements for such a procedure.

Since the new opinion of the Constitutional Protection on the AfD has been presented, the discussion about a ban on the party has once again flared up. However, Interior Minister Dobrindt does not consider this to be sufficient to initiate a ban procedure.
