In the second quarter of 2026, the Canary Islands recorded a 9% absenteeism rate, the same as Asturias and the highest rate in Spain as a whole, according to a report prepared by Randstad Research based on data from the Quarterly Labour Cost Survey of the National Institute of Statistics (INE). The Islands also headed absenteeism due to temporary disability (IT), with 7.8% of the hours agreed.
