- On Sunday, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila led a high-powered Federal Government delegation to Esiele and Yawota communities in Oyo State following the May 15, 2026, abduction of about 46 pupils and teachers.
- President Bola Tinubu approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State and directed a specialized security unit to intensify rescue efforts for the abductees.
- The delegation visited the Soun of Ogbomoso, HRM Kabiyesi Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, and met Mrs. Mary Oyedokun, the wife of a deceased teacher, while community leaders requested establishment of a military base.
- Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga relayed the Chief of Staff's pledge: "Whatever it takes, our children and teachers will be brought back home safely," confirming an intelligence-led, carefully coordinated operation.
- Ongoing rescue efforts in Orire and Ogbomoso LGAs employ both kinetic and non-kinetic measures as the Federal Government coordinates with local leadership to secure the abductees' safe return.
