Gov. Abbott Threatens Data Centers with Penalties for Failure to Complete Water Usage Reports

Abbott says noncompliant facilities could face misdemeanor charges, permit denials and interconnection blocks as Texas audits more than 300 data centers.

Major water users who fail to complete and return a water use survey could face a Class C misdemeanor and become “ineligible to obtain permits, permit amendments, or permit renewals” from the state's environmental agency.
