Something like this is not something you see often. And especially in such tense moments, it should not happen. The opening AHL final brought a controversial end. Charlotte players rejoiced in their successful entry into the series for only a moment, when the referees canceled the goal at 4:3 in the second overtime. The reason? They overlooked that the Abbotsford goalie, who eventually won, was not ready to start the game.

The Charlotte Checkers had their unbelievable eight-game postseason winning streak end Friday night in heartbreaking fashion.
