- On Wednesday, Punch, a baby macaque in Japan abandoned by his mother, bonded with the stuffed orangutan DJUNGELSKOG, and the President of IKEA Japan delivered a lifetime supply after the story went viral this week.
- Zookeepers raised Punch after abandonment by his mother in July last year at Ichikawa City Zoo in Chiba Prefecture, bottle-feeding him and giving the stuffed orangutan, DJUNGELSKOG, which he has clung to since January 19.
- The DJUNGELSKOG plush is the 14-inch orangutan designed by Ann-Cathrine Sigrid Ståhlberg at IKEA, sold online for $19.99 with more than 1,000 reviews.
- Visitors thronged the monkey mountain on Thursday morning, with about 900 visitors—more than four-times the average—as Yasunaga Takashi, zoo official, said he was surprised by the crowds.
