A Worker Is Dead After a 300-Ton Crane Crashed Through the Wapiti River Bridge Railing and Plunged Into the River South of Grande Prairie

A crane truck crashed through the railing of the Wapiti River Bridge on Highway 40 south of Grande Prairie on June 16 and fell into the Wapiti River below. The worker inside is dead. The crane is still on the river bottom. Divers cannot enter —the current is too strong. RCMP plan to use sonar next week to locate the vehicle.
