The accident occurred yesterday afternoon on the beach of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, in Lapurdi. A woman drowned on the sea wall: the beach rescuers pulled her out of the water, her heart and breathing had stopped. When the firefighters arrived, at around 4:00 p.m., they could do nothing to save her; she was 69 years old.

A 69-year-old woman, coming out of the water in cardio-respiratory stop on the Grande Plage de Saint-Jean-de-Luz on Monday, was declared dead.
