A native of the now depopulated Ukrainian Bakhmut, Irina Elistratova is a promoter of leech therapy in the Czech Republic. When she brought this method to Ústí nad Labem two decades ago, it was a big news and everyone was amazed by the leeches. Today, however, the medical leeches from her farm are successfully used by hospitals and the general public.
