Another Rally for Alphabet Leads the U.S. Stock Market Higher
Fritz Lev seeks a buyer passionate about antiques and film to continue his 35,000-item prop rental business before its planned closure on Jan. 30.
- On Jan. 30, The Prop Room, Toronto prop rental business, will close unless a buyer honors its legacy, owner Fritz Lev said, as he retires after decades running the shop.
- About 44 years ago, Lev began renting props after a customer’s inquiry, shifting from selling antiques at Inquisitive Antiques to operating from an East York warehouse in 2010.
- The shop's eclectic catalogue contains around 35,000 items spanning eras back to the Middle Ages and supplied Anne of Green Gables, The Handmaid's Tale, Suits, and Umbrella Academy, including a three-foot-tall hourglass.
- If no buyer emerges, Lev says he will sell off the expansive catalogue rather than keep the business intact, dispersing specialized items relied on by Toronto productions.
- In an ideal world, Lev said an ideal buyer with film-business knowledge is preferred but not required, and preferably a younger person with drive to advance the business.
