Near the Czech town of Chleby, researchers dig up a huge circular trench. Their geometry follows the cycles of the sun and moon - similar to the British Stonehenge. But the Central European sanctuary is much older.
The structure is 6,500 years old, and its entrances may have been aligned with the cycles of the Sun and Moon.
In Chleby, Central Bohemia, archaeologists of the University of Western Bohemia discovered a circular enclosure of 230 meters in diameter, about 6,500 years old, whose ritual function they detailed in August 2026. Its twelve entrances, carved in a ditch of more than 2.5 meters, aim to raise the Sun at the summer solstice as the extreme positions of the Moon over a cycle of eighteen years.
