Lounge Chairs Sold on Amazon Recalled After Amputation Reported
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 1,155 chairs were sold online and can trap fingers in the adjustable backrest.
- On Thursday, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 1,155 Giantex outdoor lounge chairs due to a pinch point hazard when adjusting the unit.
- Giantex confirmed receiving one report of a consumer's finger being amputated while adjusting the chair, creating the amputation risk that triggered the recall.
- Featuring a five-position locking system, the blue chairs allow backrest height adjustments from 13.5 inches to 26.5 inches. Sold via Giantex and Amazon from August 2023 through October 2025, they cost between $75 and $90.
- Consumers must immediately stop using the chairs and contact Giantex for a refund. Customers can request a prepaid return package or be "asked to destroy the recalled lounge chair" by cutting the fabric and providing photographic proof.
- China remains the second-largest exporter to the U.S. after Mexico. Since 2014, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has worked with Chinese stakeholders "to improve the safety of consumer products exported to the United States.
