Fire Breaks Out at Tokyo Primary School, Several Rescued, NTV Reports
Dozens of firefighters battled the blaze as one teacher and several schoolchildren were rescued with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
On Friday, a fire broke out at the Takinogawa No. 3 Elementary School in downtown Tokyo, forcing the evacuation of approximately 300 students and teachers.
The Tokyo Fire Department reported the blaze originated near a music room on the top floor of the four-story building late Friday morning.
Dozens of firefighters were deployed to battle the flames, which sent black smoke billowing from top-floor windows, while crews rescued one teacher and several schoolchildren with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials confirmed that all other individuals inside the building successfully evacuated to a nearby park on their own, with no one left behind during the emergency.
Investigators are currently at the scene to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation as damage assessment continues.
