If it had happened to me a day earlier, of course I wouldn't have been like this. That's how Jaromír Bardoň (69) assessed his collapse during a routine dental procedure two weeks ago. Only thanks to the prompt response of the dental office staff and the cooperation of the paramedics with the Ostrava ECMO team, which connected the patient to extracorporeal circulation right in the field, did the pensioner survive the sudden cardiac arrest.
A specialized team at the Faculty Hospital Ostrava (FNO) connected a patient to extracorporeal circulation in the field for the first time. This saved the life of 69-year-old Jaromír Bardoň, who had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. The man underwent a demanding cardiological operation, from which he is now recovering and could be discharged home in the coming days.
