On Sunday 26 July, the animal shelters of the whole of New Aquitaine, including the SPA de Poitiers, mobilized to evacuate the 300 animals of the Bordeaux SPA, based in Mérignac, as a matter of urgency. Gironde's megafire was only 10 km away.
Since the start of the megafires, we have seen a tremendous boost of solidarity with the animals, the other great victims of the fires. Nearly 1,800 horses have reportedly been dispatched in the region in the last few days. In Cantenac (Gironde), a vineyard has welcomed several of them. Bulloch VOAD and Bulloch Strong launch fund supporting animal shelter operations impacted by Buie Driggers Road Fire
Bulloch VOAD and Bulloch Strong have established a dedicated fund to support animal shelter operations following the Buie Driggers Road fire. Approximately 45 horses have been safely evacuated to the Bulloch County Ag Complex. All donations received to this fund will support the current and future animal welfare needs in disaster operations in Bulloch County.
