Hydrogen fuel cell is a very suitable solution for heavy transport, such as long-distance trucks or heavy-duty vehicles. This technology converts hydrogen into electricity by means of an electrochemical reaction, which allows powering an electric motor without CO2 emissions or polluting particles, only expels water vapour.
A new "Power-to-Gas" demonstrator was inaugurated on Friday on the Energypolis campus in Sion. A result of a collaboration between EPFL, HES-SO Valais-Wallis and several industrial partners, the tool aims to develop a way to store excess electricity.
