Finland receives €91 million in EU transport funding, including icebreaker support
The European Commission has approved €91 million in funding for Finland to support nine national transport projects, the Ministry of Transport and Communications confirmed on Tuesday. The largest share, over €42 million, will be used to acquire a new icebreaker to ensure year-round maritime access through the Baltic Sea. The vessel is expected to support commercial shipping and enhance logistical security.

Finland's new icebreaker has been awarded EU funding. The vessel is scheduled to be completed in autumn 2029.
