The City Council of Barcelona has today taken the first step towards the eviction of the three occupied buildings of Vallcarca. Municipal officials have moved this morning to the blocks of flats of Avenida Vallcarca 83 and 87 to verify that “they are still occupied”. A large gathering, organized by Som Barri, tries to prevent the eviction of three blocks on Avinguda de Vallcarca 83. On the street there are hundreds of people in a festive atmosphere, while in the buildings there are performances by singers and poets: Elèctrica Dharma, Enric Casasses, Martí Sales, David Caño, Rodrigo Laviña, Still Ill, Oli, Acros and Adala. There will also be speeches by entities in solidarity with the evicted, such as Bombers…

The apartment blocks are municipal property and the Barcelona City Council wants to demolish them, claiming they are in a situation of substandard housing, to make a green boulevard.
