The Olympic plans for 2030 take a turn: the ice sports competitions are no longer to be held in Nice, but in Lyon. The reason for this is the rejection of a temporary ice sports hall.
Eric Ciotti, newly elected head of the city of the Alpes-Maritimes and fiercely opposed to certain projects of installation of the Olympic Winter Games, prompted the organizers to review their copy.
The city of the Bay of Angels was to host all the ice events (hockey, figure skating, curling, short track), but the project was completely squandered by the election in March of Eric Ciotti.
At the end of a final meeting of all the forces of the Olympic project, the President of the Southern Region confirms the abandonment of Nice to welcome the ice pole to Lyon. A huge disappointment to the extent of his commitment to this project that is close to his heart.
