"She Didn't Even Make It to Two": Family, Friends Mourn Erie Mass Shooting Victims
Police said the victims included a pregnant woman and two young children as investigators searched for a motive and ruled out any ongoing threat.
On Friday, a 45-year-old gunman killed eight people at a residence on Perry Street in Erie, Pennsylvania, before taking his own life.
Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert Friday evening, discovering two women dead outside the home after audio recordings captured the gunman calling them over before shooting.
Victims ranged from 22 months to 51 years old, including two young children and an eight-month pregnant woman; a.40-caliber handgun registered to the gunman was recovered.
SWAT personnel breached the home using a surveillance robot, where officers discovered six additional victims and the gunman; all nine had died before police entered.
Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah described the event as a 'devastating' rampage, while the active investigation continues with no ongoing public danger as detectives review witnesses.
