According to security cameras, the Renault 12 in which the family was travelling crossed the red light. The driver of the Volkswagen Amarok van along the route was approximately 160 kilometers per hour.
Renzo Benítez and Eliana Ramírez were traveling with their three children when a truck attacked them. The marriage died on the spot and the boys survived with serious injuries. The driver remains in detention and charged with murder.
