- On March 11, 2026, Vivid Sydney unveiled its program under Festival Director Brett Sheehy AO, announcing a 23-day festival from 22 May to 13 June with new daytime events and the return of large drone shows.
- After a drop from a 3.3 million peak, organisers expanded Vivid Sydney into aerial performance, theatre, dance and daytime public art to boost visitation after attendance plateaued around 2.5 million in recent years.
- A condensed 6.5-kilometre Vivid Light Walk will feature 43 installations and projections, debuting Molecule of Light, a 23-metre installation, and Obstacle, a 45-metre LED corridor.
- With more than 80 per cent of the program free to attend, Vivid Sydney aims to make experiences accessible and support local businesses, 'We collaborate with police, emergency services, we're all working together to make sure we're capable of managing it'.
- A fleet of 700-to-1000 drones will perform 22 drone shows over 11 nights from Darling Harbour with weeknight scheduling and attract an expected three million visitors.
