A Chengdu J-20 was filmed carrying 8 PL-15 air-to-air missiles on external hardpoints — a configuration Lockheed Martin's marketing department named "beast mode." Inside its bays the J-20 carries 4 more PL-15s and 2 short-range PL-10s, for 14 missiles altogether. Hanging weapons outside a stealth aircraft destroys the reason it is stealthy, which raises the obvious question of why China would do it.
