India Urges Ceasefire in Gaza, Backs Two-State Solution
GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE, JUL 24 – India urges a full ceasefire and continuous humanitarian aid to Gaza, citing 95% hospital damage and over 650,000 children out of school, while backing a two-State solution for lasting peace.
- On July 23, 2025, India's UN Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish called for a full ceasefire in Gaza during a UN Security Council open debate.
- He made this call amid escalating humanitarian crises, noting that temporary pauses in fighting are insufficient to resolve shortages and suffering.
- Harish highlighted that around 95 per cent of Gaza's hospitals are damaged or destroyed and over 650,000 children have missed schooling for 20 months.
- He stressed that the release of all hostages is essential and highlighted that only through dialogue and diplomacy can lasting progress be made, as no alternative approaches will effectively resolve the situation.
- India reaffirmed its support for a sovereign, independent Palestinian state alongside Israel and expressed hope that an upcoming July 28-30 conference will advance the two-State solution.
