At around 10:30 a.m. on the 22nd, a 118 emergency call was received via the fire department reporting that "a woman had suffered cardiac arrest while diving" near Tokashiki Island. According to the Naha Coast Guard, a 63-year-old woman from Yamaguchi Prefecture who was diving offshore was transported to a clinic in Tokashiki Village, but her death was confirmed at 11:10 a.m.
