A Warsaw court has announced its verdict in the tragic 2022 accident that resulted in the death of a 4-year-old boy. Tram driver Robert S. pinned the child as he was getting off the tram with his door. The tram dragged him along the tracks in front of his grandmother. The man was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and banned from driving for several years.
The District Court for Warsaw's Praga Północ district found tram driver Robert S. guilty of negligently causing a fatal accident in which a 4-year-old boy died. He also ordered the victim's parents to pay 100,000 złoty in compensation.
For three years, the parents of little Aleksander have been waiting for answers about who was responsible for the death of their 4-year-old son. The boy was pinned by the tram door, which then dragged him along the tracks. The tram driver was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. He did not attend the sentencing.
