BIHAR, INDIA, JUL 25 – The Election Commission received and digitised forms from 7.23 crore voters, aiming to remove ineligible names and maintain electoral roll integrity before Bihar's assembly elections.
- On Friday, Election Commission of India said 99.8% of Bihar electors are covered under the SIR exercise, which began on June 24.
- On June 24, the Election Commission of India order cited its constitutional mandate for the Special Intensive Revision, and noted upcoming assembly elections later this year.
- Amid roll revision data, reports on July 24, 2025 showed a 809% surge in `untraceable` electors, and deletions jumped by 300,000 to 5.6 million by July 23.
- During an INDIA bloc protest, Mallikarjun Kharge tore a symbolic SIR document while RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said `consider boycotting` the Assembly polls.
- After form collection, the final electoral roll is scheduled for September 30, as the EC states it has completed 99.8% coverage in Bihar.
