NFL says it's reviewing referee incident after viral video, NFLPA complaint
- The NFL is investigating an official caught on camera swearing at Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during Sunday's 36-24 loss to the New York Giants, league spokesperson Brian McCarthy confirmed.
- Tensions flared after officials missed a potential pass interference call on Giants defender Dru Phillips during a third-down play with under five minutes remaining, prompting McBride's complaint and the official's profane response.
- Broadcast footage captured the official allegedly yelling "F--- you" twice at McBride, who gestured toward the CBS camera and laughed upon realizing the interaction was caught on video.
- NFL Players Association president JC Tretter denounced the conduct, writing on social media: "This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable," and demanded equal accountability standards.
- Similar incidents have drawn comparisons to New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel's unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Sunday for using profanity toward an official, highlighting a broader double-standard debate.
