95-year-old woman tied up during 'vile' attempted robbery by man who offered to clean windows
The suspect, aged late 60s to early 70s, fled after a friend confronted him; the victim was unharmed and police are conducting extensive enquiries, Greater Manchester Police said.
- GMP officers responded to a reported attempted robbery at a Little Hulton home on Tuesday after police were called to Belcroft Drive around 11am involving a 95-year-old woman.
- Officers say the man entered after offering to clean the woman's windows, then demanded cash and her purse before the victim's friend arrived and confronted the intruder, who fled.
- Descriptions from GMP depict a man in his late 60s–early 70s with short mousy brown hair combed back, no facial hair, glasses, wearing a dark raincoat jacket, jeans, and dark-coloured shoes.
- GMP say detectives have opened extensive enquiries and increased patrols; they ask for CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage via 101 or Live Chat quoting log 1082 of 27/01/26.
- Authorities say the woman was physically unharmed and is receiving support from officers; Detective Inspector Paul Davies called the attack `vile` and commended the victim's friend, urging anyone with information to come forward.
