Yeşilay shared the results of two separate studies conducted as part of its efforts to combat tobacco and nicotine products. The studies, which involved a total of 6,942 participants, showed that the vast majority of the public supports new restrictions and regulations regarding tobacco control.
According to the digital survey, 91.4% of participants stated that they support new regulations to protect children and young people from tobacco and nicotine addiction.
Yeşilay drew attention to the effects of smoking on health and the economy, and called for new regulations in the fight against tobacco.
Associate Professor Dr. Mehmet Dinç, who announced the results of Yeşilay's public opinion survey, stated that cigarette consumption in Türkiye is 1.5 times higher than the world average and requested support for the new tobacco regulation on the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
