9/11 25 years later: Memorial commemorates two WTC attacks
The memorial is offering exhibits, educational programs and online toolkits as 100 million Americans are too young to remember 9/11, officials said.
As Americans prepare to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum is honoring those murdered by two terrorist attacks committed in Manhattan, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania.
The North Tower faced two Islamic terrorist attacks on a Tuesday, eight years apart; a 1993 van bombing killed six, followed by the 2001 hijackings that killed nearly 3,000 people.
Those killed on 9/11 were between the ages of 2.5 and 85, hailing from 90 countries, including 1,470 in the North Tower, 695 in the South Tower, and 441 First Responders.
The memorial site covers the World Trade Center complex, featuring two pools built in the footprint of the Twin Towers, while the Museum includes artifacts about the 1993 bombing and 9/11 exhibits.
A quarter century later, 100 million Americans are too young to remember 9/11, so the Museum offers online programs to ensure a new generation learns the significance and enduring legacy of the loss.
