The Ixpilla lagoon is located in the Iñurritza Special Area of Conservation in Zarautz and now has enhanced protection against current environmental threats. The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council has completed a project aimed at preserving the site. Its ecological function is “vital for the resting, feeding, and reproduction of migratory birds and wintering species.”
