RCMP say officers were notified of a "water-related emergency" at Regina Beach, Sask., on Friday afternoon. They say an eight-year-old boy, who was found in the water, died.

Officers said they were called to the scene shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday after receiving a report of a 'water-related emergency.'

Lumsden RCMP respond to water-related death on Regina Beach

Media Release, RCMP Officers attended, along with local EMS. A child was located in the water and declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as an 8-year-old male. His family has been notified. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service has taken carriage of the investigation. This is considered a sudden death investigation. As there is no element of criminality, we will not be releasing any further details.
