8 in 10 Brits believe lessons learnt outside the classroom are more important
The survey found 67% of adults said their most useful skills were learned outside school, and respondents picked up an average of 22 new skills.
Eight in 10 Brits feel lessons gained in the 'university of life' are more important than formal education, according to a Samsung-commissioned survey of 2,000 adults.
Samsung commissioned the research to mark the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Series, which features Note Assist to support learning. Charlie Nordfeldt from Samsung said people are "constantly finding new ways to tackle the unfamiliar."
Trial and error remains highly valued, with 50% saying they learn more from mistakes than advice; meanwhile, 89% admitted searching online for instructions about something they felt they "should already know."
Respondents often pick up practical skills after leaving school, including managing money , preparing for job interviews , and using new technology .
Nearly nine in 10 respondents agreed learning is a lifelong process, with 16% wanting to master DIY skills and 13% interested in car maintenance.
