74-year-old man arrested after causing Pond Inlet shelter-in-place alert

Residents of Pond Inlet received a shelter-in-place advisory on May 20 at 6 a.m. after police were told a man threatened to kill a woman in the 500 block of the community. Police surrounded the scene until 1:10 p.m., when a man surrendered. Caleb Ootoova, 74, faces charges of making death threats and resisting arrest. None of the charges has been proven in court. Ootoova remains under arrest and his next bail hearing is set for May 22.
