Baby in stroller killed in shooting in Brooklyn, police sources say
Police say the infant was struck by gunfire as two suspects fled on a moped, and investigators are questioning a person of interest.
- On Wednesday, a 7-month-old child was fatally shot while in a stroller near Moore and Humboldt streets in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The infant was pronounced dead at Woodhull Hospital.
- Two suspects were seen fleeing the scene on a moped traveling along Humboldt Street, with one individual firing shots from the back of the vehicle. The moped was ditched several blocks away.
- Upon hearing gunfire, the mother sought refuge in the Sem Sem Deli, where she discovered her child bleeding. Eyewitness Vincent Valcassel said, "When I heard that shot, I just ducked down."
- Mayor Zohran Mamdani addressed the violence on Wednesday, stating, "Our heart breaks for this family." The NYPD has made no arrests, though officials are questioning a person of interest.
