The television series, Star Trek, turns 60 on Tuesday. The original show aired for only three seasons, but it spawned prequels and sequels (on TV and in theaters) and still has a cult following.
Exactly 60 years ago William Shatner, alias Captain James T. Kirk and his crew of the Enterprise, made their first star voyage.
The first episode to air on the American channel NBC was The Man Trap. Through it, viewers met the crew of the USS Enterprise, including Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner, Spock by Leonard Nimoy and Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, played by DeForest Kelley.
