FORT STEWART, GEORGIA, USA, AUG 7 – Six soldiers received the Meritorious Service Medal for quickly subduing an armed soldier and providing life-saving aid to five wounded comrades, all expected to recover, Army officials said.
- Six unarmed soldiers who subdued a gunman at a military base in Georgia on Wednesday were awarded medals for their heroic actions.
- The suspected shooter, Sgt Radford, was part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team and had previously been arrested for driving under the influence.
